Sortikanter Centrifuge

In plastic recycling, plastics can be separated quickly and efficiently using the centrifugal effect. The patented Flottweg Sorticanter® provides economical recycling by separating different types of plastic according to their different densities. Plastics separated by centrifugation have a higher dryness than any other separation process. Air bubbles, surface effects or dust on the plastics have no effect on separation. Since most types of plastics vary in density, the sedimentation or flotation procedure is an efficient separation method; However, centrifugal separation is much faster than these methods and much drier material is obtained. Before the separation process, the raw material is broken into particles. The shredded and pre-cleaned material is then mixed in tanks with carrier liquid, also called separation liquid. Then, the homogenized suspension is fed to the “sorticanter” through a static feeding pipe. Heavier material accumulates on the drum wall under the effect of centrifugal force. The solid accumulated here is transported and evacuated with the help of a spiral. The light plastic collects on the liquid. The liquid flows through the screw and carries the light plastic particles with it. The special screw design ensures that the light phase is transported in the direction of the solid discharge (light phase). The liquid flows out under pressure through an impeller. The Flottweg Sorticanter® has a capacity of up to 1,000 kg/hour, depending on the characteristics of the feed. Since it requires minimum labor, operating costs can be saved. Low consumption of clean water and energy also has a positive impact on operating costs.
