Flottweg’s Tricanter® enables the separation of three phases (solid-liquid-liquid) in one process. For over 40 years Flottweg has been producing Tricanter® for three-phase separation.

Three-phase separation is the simultaneous separation of two immiscible liquids of different densities and a solid phase, provided that the solid phase is the heaviest phase. Its main difference from the decanter is the separate discharge of two different liquid phases. While higher density liquid is discharged under pressure, lower density liquid is discharged without pressure, under the influence of gravity. It can operate up to 80 m3 processing capacity per hour.

Three-phase separation offers users several advantages: The combination of process steps eliminates the need for additional separation stages and provides significant cost savings. It can adapt to changing feeding conditions at any time. Flottweg tricanters designed for your process are very easy to use and maintain thanks to their compact design. In case of flammable mixtures, explosion protection is also provided in accordance with the ATEX directive and current standards. It can also be produced in accordance with “Hygienic Design”. All components of tricanters produced for the food industry that come into contact with the product have CIP feature (Cleaning in Place).
